Monday’s Eclipse
If you have not heard, there will be a solar eclipse tomorrow, April 7th. There might be random traffic jams, distracted drivers and weird lighting during these times.  If you are concerned about driving during the eclipse or just being in a good place to see it, please take this into consideration for your commute to
and from class tomorrow.  The solar eclipse will be visible in Knoxville starting at 1:49 p.m. and ends at 4:23 p.m.

Free Yoga Classes!
Throughout April, Sarah is giving FREE yoga classes after the Monday and Friday Rock Steady Boxing Classes as a way to stretch and cool down.  But, you do not have to be in the Rock Steady Boxing class to participate.  Just show up ready to get bendy!  Class starts at 12:00 and goes until 12:30.

Walking Side-by-Side with Alzheimer’s
We will be at the
Alzheimer’s Tennessee Knoxville Walk this Saturday, April 13th, at 9:00 at the World’s Fair Park. I will be in the “Healthy Mind” tent (ironically) talking about exercise for a Strong Body and Strong Mind. There is a lot of overlap with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s so we are hoping to spread the word about the benefits of exercise to their community as well.  Come visit if you are in the area.

Free Month for New Members during April Awareness
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month so new members get a free month if they sign up in April.  So, if you know anyone with Parkinson’s who is still on the fence about exercise, invite them to a class and let the know that they don’t owe a cent for the first month.

Paula Abola needs your help.
Paula is a Clinical Research PhD student at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota.  She is conducting a study on the knowledge of and attitude toward pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for Parkinson’s Disease across different geographical locations.

She needs to hear from people with Parkinson’s.  If you have Parkinson’s and would like to participate, the study involves a survey that will take approximately 10-15 minutes.  Here is the link to the survey: https://qualtricsxml5cp94kjq.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8BqTZmXUDhK5HKK

Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day
The 2024 Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day is on Saturday, April 20th starting at 9:00 am at the Knoxville Christian School again.
There will be vendors, demonstrations, the “We Move” ceremony and the walk.  To register and/or donate click HERE.
If you are planning to attend, I may need your help.  My idea is to do a boxing demonstration with some you all holding mitts for some of the walk participants.  I am pretty sure they won’t punch you.

In Bed With Parkinson’s
The owner of
Beds to Go Mattress and Furniture Store in Maryville is one our very own RSB Fighters – Ed Cunningham.   Ed and his staff are hosting a Parkinson’s Awareness Benefit on Friday, April 26th from 12:00 until 3:00 pm.  There will be free food, drinks and giveaways!  Ed wants to help spread awareness and bring community to those on the same journey.   Swing by and say hello.  Especially if you need a new bed or some furniture.

I think that is it but I am sure that I will remember something as soon as I press send.

If April Shower bring May Flowers, What do May Flowers Bring?       Pilgrims.
